WP 9: Dissemination

The dissemination work package is closely related to the co-ordination work package, i.e. the KDNet Office is

  • preparing and organizing promotional workshops for KDNet
  • presenting project results, successful case stories
  • delivering information for newspapers/magazines
  • distributing information to interested people in KDNet activities.
The project work elaborated for this work package so far includes following activities:

Creation and maintenance of uniform KDNet corporate identity and design guidelines:

The KDNet Office has been responsible for the dissemination of information inside and outside the network through a complete instrumentarium of communicative print and online media. During the reporting period, the KDNet Office has elaborated and promoted a uniform corporate identity and corporate design of the Network. Marketing materials (e.g. flyers, poster, reports, presentations, letters templates, newsletter) have been provided so far. A Virtual Office area on the OIS is permanently updated and extended.

Information dissemination:

Information in and outside the network has been assured so far. Information on the KDNet OIS, as well as newsletter, events, news and other announcements have been provided on time. KDNet information is delivered continually also outside the network, e.g. in newspapers, online news, mailings, banner links, in order to make the network more visible for industry, research and the public sector. The KDNet Office team has given several presentation about KDNet project (status) on industry fairs, workshops and conferences, has organized several meetings with companies and research groups, motivating them to be active in KDNet and also to make use of KDNet services.

Dissemination of KDNet activities and tasks:

Proposals for activities and new dynamic structures relevant for the network are all coordinated by the KDNet Office and elaborated /decided by the KDNet Management Board and other active contributors. This is one of the key parts of the KDNet Management Board meetings.

Integration of new members:

New KDNet members have been successfully integrated in the network structures and encouraged through several marketing activities to contribute to network activities or to propose new ones.

Promotion of new dynamic network structures:

KDNet lives from the creation of new network structures. SIGs and Forums with different target groups and objectives are one of the key activities of the dissemination work. Partners are encouraged to propose new structures and subjects of discussion.

During the reporting period 2002, the Web Mining Forum has been founded. Forums are larger than SIGs and have been proved to be very useful structures for industrial partners and issues. SIGs have a much homogeneous members structure, e.g. research institutions, and are normally concentrated on a specific (research) topic.
